COASTERS
At molten wonky we make a range of fused glass coasters from all the colours of the rainbow. So, pop the kettle on, learn a bit more about our coasters, and get ready to jazz up your coffee table.
are fused glass coasters heatproof?
The last thing you want when sitting down to enjoy a cuppa is for your coaster to crack. The good news is that making our fused glass coasters involves heating them to very high temperatures. This makes them tough and durable, ready to hold your hot drinks.
how do you make fused glass coasters?
We mentioned that our glass coasters go through some high temperatures during the creation process — but how high? Well, these handy pieces of homeware start life as hand-cut glass, which is then popped into a kiln and heated to a toasty 800?+.
We make our jazzy coaster range from hand-cut opaque glass layered with clear glass and topped with a sprinkling of glass rods and dots to create a bold look.
Our popular love heart coasters are similar, starting out as an opaque glass love heart which is overlaid by a sheet of glass in a tonal colour. Katie then hand-paints a love heart to complete the design on top.
Both ranges are made using opal glass which means it doesn't matter if you put them on dark or light worktops, sideboards or desks, they will show off their fantastic colour.
The final touch involves adding a piece of felt to the coaster base to protect your work surface from scratches and add depth to make the design pop.
We’ll deliver your fused glass coasters tucked up in white tissue paper and delivered in one of our branded molten wonky boxes.
Please note that the hand-painted heart and the stringers and frits are all scattered randomly and will therefore create a slightly different pattern on each coaster. We think this is rather marvellous, giving every coaster a unique character.
what fused glass coaster designs are available at molten wonky?
Our jazzy coasters balance a classic shape with a quirky design. These square coasters are available in a whole host of colours, including red, pink, blue, yellow, green, and orange. Pick up several of the same shade or mix and match to create a one-of-a-kind glass coaster set.
The same goes for our lovely love heart coasters. Whichever colour you go for, from blue to pink, is delightfully handmade and perfect for livening up any room.

how to look after your glass coasters
Keeping your fused glass coasters looking lovely is nice and easy. Simply wipe them down gently with a damp cloth and dry with a cotton tea towel. As they are made from glass, these coasters are breakable, so please handle them carefully. If any breaks do occur, be careful of any sharp fragments.
Katie also offers a "fix it service" — feel free to get in touch to learn more. You can also find out more about Katie and the molten wonky story.
